Programming • Apt can't find "kernel-package"

Greetings folks.

I'm looking into building a kernel and using a patch file to get my sound working on my new laptop. Looking at https://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_debian it calls for me to install kernel-package. I can't locate kernel-package in stable, tesing or Sid.

Does anyone know what's in kernel-package that I might be able to install separately.
