Hardware • Lenovo Thinkpad W541 shutdown lock

Recently purchased second hand Lenovo ThinkPad W541, i7-4810MQ, 16GBRam, 1TBSSD, Fresh Debian 12 install, Latest Bios upgrade 2.42, Boots and runs fine as far as I can tell from only a few hours testing. However on shutdown, the system cannot shutdown many processes as shown in the following :
The system will power off now!

system stops at this point and requires a long press power button to power off.
