Hello,
I just installed Debian 12 on our desktop. We live out of the US and use PIA to watch stuff on PBS. We had PIA installed on Debian 9 but I can't get it back.
Per their instructions https://helpdesk.privateinternetaccess. ... 1-download I downloaded the file and used:But I got stuck at:
I ranand got this output:
The read only box in the Terminal menu is not checked. I made a halfhearted effort to do it as su but I didn't pursue it too far because I don't know what I am doing and fear that I will screw this up.
Any suggestions? It is a big week on PBS because there is a Nova special about how whales used to be terrestrial and I want to see it before it goes behind the paywall.
Thank you!

Per their instructions https://helpdesk.privateinternetaccess. ... 1-download I downloaded the file and used:
Code:
cd Downloads
Code:
sh pia-linux-3.5.3-07926.run
Undaunted, I took to the internet and found these instructions https://my.velocihost.net/knowledgebase ... x-VPS.htmlMedia change: please insert the disc labeled
'Debian GNU/Linux 12.4.0 _Bookworm_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 with firmware 20231210-17:57'
in the drive '/media/cdrom/' and press [Enter]
I ran
Code:
vi /etc/apt/sources.list
However, I cannot add the hastag before the deb cdrom: line because it is read only.deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 12.4.0 _Bookworm_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 with firmware 20231210-17:57]/ bookworm main non-free-firmware
