Graphical Environments & Desktops • "Dock" in Xfce

In almost every dock in an OS, including all the Linux OS I've used, I can add programs by dragging them to the dock, right click, add to dock, except Debian xfce.

I'm told that a dock is a dock except Debian, the dock is not really a dock.

I ask with all respect, why does Debian do this?

I wanted to add Firefox to the dock. I had to go into the default programs, pick Firefox, then the strange icon opens Firefox. No adding on the fly, no right click, add to dock (doesn't work).

What is the process to add things to the "Dock"? With all respect to the Debian (could be the best OS) community, why add a dock that doesn't work like a dock?

Thank you for any help.
